About

Central Midlands Stargazers started life when Simon Newman set up South Leicester Observers via the Stargazers Lounge astronomy community. He had a passion for astronomy and wanted to share it. Through this he met up with Phil Haughton and some other members. The geographical location of the members was such that some were coming a long way to observe, so a search began for a more centrally located site. Through serendipity we found our site near Sibbertoft and Central Midlands Stargazers was born.

The group has continued to grow with members from all around the East Midlands attending. We are currently about 30 strong.

Central Midlands Observers is a observational astronomy group with the aim of getting out and observing whether visually or with cameras.

Everyone is welcome, especially beginners and can join by contacting any of the people on the Home page.
